Founded in 2013 by musician Leo Crabtree, BeauFort London was influenced by early experiences at sea and a very British obsession with the elements. Initially, the brand carried just one product – handmade mustache wax in a billet aluminum case – a response to poor quality male grooming products.

Exploring the poetics of fragrance production in these early experiments, it quickly became clear that this was the focus of the brand. As we immersed ourselves in the history of perfume (a word that derives from the Latin phrase “per fumum” meaning “through smoke”), we decided that our fragrances should be literally built on this etymology, exploiting the many olfactory facets of smoke to create singular fragrance that seeks to evoke memories, both real and apparent.

In 2015, we launched our first fragrance collection Come Hell Or High Water , initially with just three fragrances: Tonnerre , Coeur De Noir and Vi et Armis . The brand's unusual approach to fragrance execution, its use of unusual ingredients in "overdose" concentrations, and its darkly luxurious aesthetic sparked both critical acclaim and consternation: the seed was sown.

Today the brand has developed into two full collections, launching Revenants in 2017 alongside room fragrances and several special editions.
