INSOMNIA tells the story of the suspended time of the night and that sense of freedom that springs from the absence of limits and constraints.
The night is like a dark veil under which everything that oppresses us during the day begins to dissolve: routines, deadlines, urgencies, appointments.
Finally, while everyone is sleeping, there is nothing left to check on the phone, no emergency to resolve in the hours to follow. Staying awake at night offers a moment of grace, a liberation from daily pressure.
It is a sense of radical freedom, wrapped in a welcoming darkness.
INSOMNIA speaks of the excitement produced by that sense of narcotic and exhilarating freedom that only wakefulness in the silence of the night can create.
It is that enthusiasm that allows you to develop an artistic project, write a book, or finally dedicate yourself to something personal that you had neglected. Perhaps even an excuse that requires a couple of hours of uninterrupted concentration.
INSOMNIA is nighttime dedicated to a conversation with a friend, philosophical or deeply intimate, without limits or restrictions. Fatigue begins to set in, but the dialogue is too engaging to break off.
INSOMNIA is also the freedom to spend the night with friends, between a well-laid table and a pub, careless of the time passing, trying to overcome exhaustion because those moments are unrepeatable and take on, in some way, an infinite dimension.
Nothing trivial seems to happen in that precious space. Thoughts become sharper and more defined, just as fatigue begins to torment the mind and eyes. Without the pressure of the clock, the night does not chase you. It wraps around you, in a balance between the ecstasy of freedom and the soft fog of fatigue.
For me, there is something magical about staying awake at night, especially in solitude. That suspended nighttime has an almost sacred quality. The connection with oneself strengthens, and the suspension of time creates the feeling of living in a parallel universe.
INSOMNIA was born from my experience as a night creature, particularly during the years I worked on the brand's first creations. At the time, I had another job during the day, and the night was the only space left where I could immerse myself totally in my creative process, in full freedom and without time constraints.
Another reference that has enriched the imagery behind this creation is a particular eye makeup that has always fascinated me: a slightly shimmering black-blue smoky eye.
To me, it conveys the idea of a glamorous insomnia — a dark-glam night creature, tired but still vibrating with energy.
